Now, bio-data on your mobile - Devraj Uchil

JNow you can send your bio-data to a prospective employer through your mobile. A dream come true for many of us who have to struggle to find a cyber café or evade prying eyes at workplace to send out curriculum vitiate.

“Sending your bio-data through your mobile is one of the ‘Smart’ features we have on our portal,” says Balu Pandian, marketing director of Jobstreet18.Our portal jobstreet.com aims to make the jobs seeker smarter & savvy with its user-friendly features, he adds. The portal that was launched in 2000 is being relaunched as a smarter portal on Friday.

Having registered with the portal, which is free, you can send your bio-data to a prospective employer from your mobile phone. Just send an SMS with the e-mail id of the recipient and your client code, the portal sends your curriculum vitiate within a minute. This feature is what the jobstreet terms Smart Apply.

Another problem that is being sorted out is the total mismatch of job alerts. This is the case with most of the job portals and their job alerts are more often a nuisance than good news. After six months of research on what job seekers want from a portal and brainstorming on how we can use technology to deliver that, we have evolved jobstreet.com in to a smart portal,” says Anand Iyer CEO of Jobstreet.com.

Even registering is made hassle free. The Smart Register feature, unlike other portals where you have to fill in about 90 odd fields, requires you to just fill in your first and last name and then upload your bio data in the doc format. The system will fill in the required fields by itself. For the discerning, there is always place to give more information.

The Smart Search feature gives you industry, specialization and location-wise search options and tell you the number of openings available sector-wise, company-wise and location-wise. Having banned recruiters from the site and the opening coming directly from the employers, the job seeker can get an industry overview at the site. If you are an IT professional looking for a job in Bengaluru, you can know the number of opening in your sector, companies that have openings available in Bangalore.

Bagging a good job or a new job is nerve-wracking enough without having to endure the eccentricities of existing job portals. With completion, lets hope that other portals take the smart route and make life a bit easier for the ever-present job seeker.
